Rajajinagar was one of the new extensions of then Bangalore City of 1960s. The 70s and the 80s saw the rapid development of Rajajinagar and saw the population spilling over to the new areas of Hosahalli and west of Chord Road areas, now known as Vijayanagar and Basaveswara Nagar. Even the lakes Shivanahalli and Dasarahalli Kere that were surrounding the areas of chord road had to pay the price for the rapid urban development. Those who were living in Rajajinagar had an easy access to Railway stations and KSRTC Bus stand at Okalipuram and Subashnagar. Even most of the private transport operators used to operate buses from Subashnagar Bus stand area. Shopping was mainly done in Majestic area of Gandhinagar. Rajajinagar Entrance area is just situated toward west, around 2 to 3 Kms away from these busy areas of Majestic.
